Iron County, Wisconsin
How to appeal a Iron County property tax assessment
Next Board of Review season for Iron County: 2027, typically in spring. Each city, village and town sets its own Board of Review dates, so HomeTaxChallenge does not list one deadline for Iron County. Check with your assessor or municipal clerk for your municipality's 2027 dates, and give notice of intent to object at least 48 hours before the Board's first meeting. Guidance: Wisconsin DOR, Board of Review objections and forms (revenue.wi.gov).
Steps
- Look up your Iron County parcel to confirm the parcel number, municipality and current assessed value.
- Confirm the Board of Review dates with your city, village or town clerk. Give the clerk written or oral notice of intent to object at least 48 hours before the Board's first meeting (sec. 70.47(7)(a), Wis. Stats.).
- Object to the total assessed value (land plus improvements) with evidence of market value, such as recent sales of comparable homes. Wisconsin assesses property at full value, adjusted by each municipality's level of assessment.
- File Form PA-115A (Objection to Real Property Assessment) with the Board of Review clerk before or during the first two hours of the Board's first meeting. Later options include Department of Revenue review, circuit court, or an excessive-assessment claim.
